The people at Cygnus are important to us, they are at the centre of everything we do. The success of our schools is dependent on the people. We value all staff through our culture of collaboration and professional development to build schools that are sustainable and provide only the very best for all of our pupils.
Sustainability is a high priority as this is needed for our staff and pupils to realise their ambition. We welcome communication from those wishing to join us, as well as schools who wish to work in partnership.
Our ambition is, over time, to create small hubs of local primary schools working together in a collaborative manner to meet the needs of pupils in their area and beyond. We therefore, have the ambition to increase the number of schools in our Trust, but in growing, we will act in a timely and considered manner.
Geographical isolation of schools within the Trust will be avoided where possible. Ultimately we hope to grow a series of localised hubs, making it easier to communicate, share good practice, and create a common ethos within the Trust. The hubs would be expected to be within no more than 30 minutes journey time between them. We currently have schools located in Bexley, Dartford and Tonbridge, but would consider working with schools, nurseries and trusts from other areas.
When a school or another Multi Academy Trust is proposed to be part of our Trust we consider:
- Our moral obligation
- Shared ethos and vision
- Financial position of school
- Distance between schools
- Size of school/Trust and designation
- Ofsted category of the school
Our moral obligation to raise standards, address underperformance and support schools in realising their ambition, remains the overriding consideration.
